Getting your Astrazeneca vaccine earlier than 12 weeks

Getting your Astrazeneca vaccine earlier than 12 weeks

The PM has advised people to get their second dose at the 8 week mark, and today GP’s around NSW received notification from NSW Health and the RACGP encouraging Sydney residents to have their vaccine at the 6 week mark.

GSH is happy to facilitate this for patients who want to be vaccinated at 6-8 weeks, but at present all these changes need to be made manually. We encourage you to secure your second dose at the 12 weeks that the software forces you to do, then do one of the following;

1. If you are getting your first dose, let our staff know while you are waiting after your shot. We can manually bring your second dose forward.

2. If you’ve had your first dose, and it has been 4 or more weeks and you haven’t had your second dose – we will send an email to you asking if you want your vaccine dose brought forward. A simple yes or no reply is required with preferred timing both in weeks after 1st, and the time of day – our AZ vaccine day runs Thursdays 11:30am to 4:30pm.

While we can’t give you a specific time, we will let you know when we were able to move your vaccine forward to.

3. Wait for further news – we’re sure eventually the government will ask booking providers to allow earlier online bookings.

If required, we will hold more vaccination sessions to facilitate the earlier shots.
