Slovenia's Tadej Pogacar won the Tour de France for a second straight year on Sunday after a mostly ceremonial final stage concluded on the Champs-Elysees in Paris.
The 22 year-old UAE Team Emirates rider successfully defended his huge advantage of 5 minutes, 20 seconds over second-placed Jonas Vingegaard of Denmark. Ecuador's Richard Carapaz finished third overall, 7:03 off the pace.
Pogacar won his first title last September when he became the Tour’s youngest champion in 116 years.
Wout van Aert took Stage 21 - his third win of the Tour - in a mass sprint following a 108-kilometre (67-mile) route from Chatou. That prevented Mark Cavendish from beating Belgian legend Eddy Merckx's record of 34 stage wins, which the British sprinter equalled earlier in the race.
Cavendish had to settle for the best sprinter's green jersey after crossing the line third behind van Aert and Belgian compatriot Jasper Philipsen.
As well as the General Classification's yellow jersey, Pogacar also won the climber's polka dot jersey and the young rider's white jersey.
