Formed in 1997, the British pop group consisted of Claire Richards, Lee Latchford-Evans, Lisa Scott-Lee, Faye Tozer, and Ian "H" Watkins. The group had two #1 singles in the UK, two #1 albums and fourteen consecutive top 5 hits. They sold over 20 million albums worldwide, received a BRIT award nomination in 1998 and opened for Britney Spears on tour. In 2001, when Claire and H left, the group officially disbanded. The group reunited in 2012 and again in 2017.

Released in 1998, Step One peaked at #2 in the UK and spent 64 weeks on the chart. The album was released in the US a year later with songs from this and their sophomore album. Five singles were released.
