Almost All Claims Of Voter Fraud Were Either False Or Committed By Republicans

The Trump team, Fox News, and plenty of other conservative media outlets over the past year have been railing about alleged "voter fraud," and sometimes they've gone as far as to list the names of "dead people" who voted in 2020. But then they never followed up on those stories - and there's a good reason for that. Nearly all of these cases were either easily debunked, or they actually involved REPUBLICANS committing the voter fraud. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what happened and why these lies are so dangerous.

A brilliant report from the Washington post came out this week, talking about all of the voter fraud cases that the Trump team, that Fox news, that all these conservative websites, daily signal had been putting out there for almost an entire year now. And they actually went through because in some instances, the Trump campaign, Fox daily signal, other websites, and other conservative pundits have actually named the names of people who they claim were dead, but voted anyway. So the Washington post said, all right, let's put this to rest. Let's find out if this is accurate. And it turns out that in near all of these cases, the person either actually wasn't dead and conservatives were wrong, or, oh, it actually was voter fraud, but it was a Republican who committed the voter fraud. Here's what happened in a lot of these instances, by the way, the Republicans would jump on a name and say, oh my God, this person is dead.

Or this person doesn't exist. And then they'd look into it and find out what happened was, oh no, this person is not dead because there happens to be more than one Jane Smith in the state of Pennsylvania. You idiots. That's actually very common by the way, for Republicans to do that. That's how they get by with their successful voter purges. If you have a name, the same as somebody that's in jail or dead, they'll purge you from the voting rules, very tricky, very dirty, but they do it all the time. And then in other instances, they would say, well, this person's name doesn't match. Doesn't match the voting roles, but they voted anyway. And then it turns out like, oh yeah, but they actually got a name change. And so it was totally legal or they were widowed. They went back to voting in their either widowed name or maiden name, depending on how they switched.

They got remarried. They got divorced. Lots of instances of that. It is not voter fraud. And then of course you had the instances where it was straight up voter fraud, committed by a Republican. As we saw in several instances, Republicans getting ballots for their dead relatives and then filling out Donald Trump's name. That's why, by the way, once these networks, once the Trump people put out these lists of names at the end of last year, beginning of this year, that's why there was never any follow up on it. Right? They put this stuff out there, they make a big, big stink about it. And then they never talk about it again because they know it's not real or because they know what's going to make their own party look pretty dang bad. That's the point of it. That's what they're doing. There was no widespread voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election. It's been audited. It's been recounted. It's been verified. All of the things that needed to happen to verify that we had a safe and secure election did in fact take place. Were there problems? Absolutely.

Could we fix them? We sure. Should. You can blame Mitch McConnell for that for blocking election security legislation for several years during the time when he was the majority leader under Trump's administration, but I guess that's a conversation for another day. The bottom line is Republicans are lying about voter fraud and they're lying about it because they know it doesn't exist.
