Cheong Wa Dae is expected to focus on analyzing the North's intentions,... as it came on the day Seoul, Washington and Tokyo's intel chiefs met to discuss Peninsula affairs.
Kim Min-ji has the details.
South Korea's presidential office expressed deep regret over North Korea's missile launch.
A Blue House official said Tuesday that the intelligence agencies of Seoul and Washington will be carrying out an in-depth analysis.
When asked if the North's launch presumed to be a submarine launched ballistic missile had crossed the "red line" the official said a response can be made after the situation is "clearly figured out."
South Korea's National Security Council also expressed deep regret,... urging the regime to return to the negotiating table.
It held an emergency meeting Tuesday morning for about 70 minutes... to discuss the security situation.
The NSC reaffirmed that stability on the Korean Peninsula is more important than ever,... vowing to keep close tabs on the situation and to closely coordinate with related parties.
However, it did not characterize the North's launch as a "provocation," unlike in mid-September likely not to hamper efforts to resume dialogue.
Tuesday's launch came as South Korea's National Intelligence Director Park Jie-won met with his counterparts from the U.S. and Japan Avril Haines and Hiroaki Takizawa at an undisclosed venue in Seoul.
According to a statement from Seoul's NIS the intel chiefs discussed North Korea's latest missile launch,... and other related issues although it did not elaborate.
It is rare for the NIS to issue a release following such meetings.
They are expected to have shared their assessments of the security situation on the Korean Peninsula,... as well as President Moon Jae-in's proposal for an end-of-war declaration.
