To tick the "Disability" box or not | Chelsea Williamson | TEDxRandburgStudio

Chelsea Williamson was diagnosed with Neurodevelopmental and neurodiverse disabilities at the age of nine. She was fortunate enough to have attended an inclusive school growing up and never felt disabled until in high school she moved countries and quickly saw how disability-inclusion and accessibility weren't a priority everywhere in the world, this is where her passion for disability-inclusion began. Chelsea believes Accessibility and inclusion is for everyone. She is completing MPhil in Disability Rights for Africa focusing on how to use mainstream technology to achieve disability inclusion.

She has always immersed herself in the disability communities, having neuro-diverse disabilities myself. Being in these worlds has allowed her to witness the barriers that are faced on a daily basis, and has shown her how technology truly is the most effective tool to overcoming them and creating successfully inclusive and accessible environments.

Being in this field has encouraged her to ensure that inclusion on every level is something that is at the forefront of everything that I do. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
