Report: Thomas Tuchel could meet prospective Chelsea buyers selected by Raine Group
The groups who have been told they are on the shortlist of bidders to buy Chelsea will now move on to the next stage of the sale which may include a meeting with Thomas Tuchel, according to The Times.
Consortia led by LA Dodgers part-owner Todd Boehly and former British Airways chairman Sir Martin Broughton are the two groups who have been told by the Raine Group that they are on the shortlist, the report claims.
They may be another group or two that will join the list, and the Chelsea sale process is now on its second stage.
Although, it is arguably taking longer than what most Chelsea fans hoped for considering the restrictions imposed on the club after the sanctioning of club owner Roman Abramovich.
The Raine Group, the Times added, expect the deal to be completed by the end of April.
On Thursday night, the New York-based merchant bank reportedly informed the shortlisted bidders that they will be notified of the details of the next stage of the process in 24 hours.
This may include opportunities to meet key people at the club including club director Marina Granovskaia, chief executive Guy Lawrence, and men’s team manager Tuchel.
Tuchel, as he repeatedly said before, has virtually zero influence on the outcome of the sale.
However, he can hopefully at least have an input on the prospective buyers’ Chelsea plans through these possible conversations.
When responding to questions over the potential Chelsea takeover, Tuchel emphasised that he hoped the new owners “like winning”.
Fortunately for Chelsea, Tuchel and players have clearly been able to stay focussed on performing on the pitch despite all the noise off the pitch as showcased by their six wins out of six in March.
The Blues will be back in action next weekend, facing Brentford on 2 April, before taking on Real Madrid at home four days later.
