Qantas plane engine failure 'incredibly rare'

The Qantas plane engine failure which occurred on Wednesday afternoon was “incredibly rare”, according to aviation expert Geoffrey Thomas.

“This is the most reliable engine in the world,” Mr Thomas told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.

“There are 33,000 of these engines in service around the world and they have the highest reliability rate of any engine.

“It is a pretty good bit of kit.”
